Celebrate Black History Month
Create a luminous collage inspired by the work of painter and muralist Aaron Douglas. Douglas served as the first president of the Harlem Artists Guild in 1935, both providing and advocating for professional opportunities for Black artists. Themes in his artwork include the dignity of labor and African Americans’ role in building the nation. Workshop leader: Karen Arrington, Artist in Residence, Greenbelt Community Center. All materials provided. Advance sign-up recommended. Choose either of two seatings: 1pm – 2pm or 2pm – 3pm. Please reserve enough “slots” for everyone in your party, even if you will be working together. Walk-ups also welcome as space and supplies permit.
